Please note: All student work is archived according to the Hanze guidelines, but you do not have access to that archive yourself. Therefore, only download what you may need later and have not yet saved on your own computer or in OneDrive, such as an exam, assignment, or portfolio that you are proud of or that you want to use for further studies or job applications.
Since we are transitioning from Blackboard to Brightspace as of September 1, 2025, it's important that you retrieve your files from Blackboard in time. This includes, for example:
- Submitted assignments
- Feedback you’ve received
- Content from your Blackboard portfolio
- Files in your Content System
It’s possible that you’ve already saved all your files and submitted work in your own OneDrive, or that you don’t need or want to keep any feedback. Not sure about this? Then please contact your teacher.
- Saving submitted work
Have you submitted an assignment in Blackboard but don’t have it saved in your OneDrive, and you still want to keep it? You can retrieve it yourself from your Blackboard course. Below are two ways to do this:
You can find your submitted work in Grades. Download it there,
If you see in Grades that the course is unavailable, it will indicate that the instructor can grant you access. In that case, feel free to contact the instructor of the course.
You can also do this by going to the course:
- go to the correct course;
- go to the assignment where you submitted your files;
- click on the icon of your submitted assignment to download your file including any annotations (comments) (1);
- click on the icon next to your submitted file to download the file without annotations (comments) (2).
2. Saving feedback you’ve received
To save feedback you’ve received on a submitted assignment, you can take a screenshot of the feedback.
3. Content from your Blackboard portfolio
Do you use the Blackboard portfolio and still have files stored there that you haven’t saved elsewhere? You can download these files and save them to your OneDrive.
- Navigate to ‘Tools’ and click on ‘Portfolios’
- Click ‘More’ next to the portfolio you want to download, then select ‘Download’ – you will receive a .zip folder containing your portfolio (including any attached files).
4. Securing files from your Content System
You may have personal files stored in your Content System – this is your personal folder with files in Blackboard. It’s possible that this folder is empty, in which case you don’t need to do anything. To check this, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to ‘Tools’ and click on ‘Content Collection’
- Under ‘My Content’, you will find your personal files.
- Select the files you want to download and click ‘Download Package’.
- You will now receive your files in a .zip file in your downloads folder.
It’s important that you retrieve your files before September 1, 2025, as we will no longer be using Blackboard after that date.
