In Brightspace, there are different types of Assignments. Below you will find an explanation of the various types.
Types of Assignments
Instructors can have you submit an assignment in Brightspace in different ways:
- File submission: You need to upload your assignment as a file in the assignment (for example, a Word or PDF file).
- Text submission: You enter text, an image, or a link to your work in a text box in the assignment. For example, if you need to create a webpage, you can place the link here.
- File or text submission: This is a combination of the two options described above. It is often used when you need to submit a file but also include a link, image, or text.
- On paper submission: You submit the assignment as a hard copy and do not need to upload it to Brightspace. Instructors can enter the grade in Grades.
- Observed in person: You perform a task during the class or workshop, for which the instructor enters a grade as for an assignment, even if you do not need to upload anything in Assignments
The instructor will make it clear in advance whether you need to submit the assignment in Brightspace.
